Driving teacher volunteers required!

Posted: 30th Nov

While you're looking for work, boost your confidence and support newly arrived adult learner drivers by becoming a volunteer!

Whittlesea Community Connections are looking for volunteers to support adult migrants and refugees with supervised driving practice to acquire their probationary driving licence.

Gaining a licence helps community members to establish independence, access essential services and employment opportunities, and fully participate in their local community.

To be eligible to volunteer you must:

  • Be 25 years and above
  • Hold a Victorian licence with no restrictions
  • Be able to work with people from diverse backgrounds and able to offer two hours a week for six months
  • Have a willingness to volunteer.

Training and support is provided to volunteers. Whittlesea Community Connections pays for professional lessons for the learners first, so volunteers will not be getting in a car with a brand new learner.

Arabic and Farsi speakers will be preferable as the clients mostly speak these languages.
